Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity wants to change poor images the public may have about fraternities and plans to do so by letting their charitable side show.

Kappa Alpha Psi is one of the only black fraternities on campus that is socially based; the others are service based, Lieutenant Exchequer Arinze Ifekauche said. All members, however, are required to participate in community service.

One outlet of community service for the fraternity is the Kappa League, which is directly correlated to the national organization and resembles a high school fraternity within the college fraternity.

High school-aged males join Kappa League, if they meet the GPA and extra curricular requirements, to learn more about what it's like to be in the college fraternity, said Cory Jackson, vice president of Kappa Alpha Psi. The high school students are also encouraged to further their education and are required to participate in service projects, he said.  more >>
