View Article  Alpha Phi Alpha Shoeshield by Hip- Hop World

Recently I contacted a company based out of New Orleans who have been currently displaced due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina. This company, Hip-Hop World, is a black owned business and has a unique product that currently is geared towards members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

The Shoeshield™  is a revolutionary device made of flexible rubber that attaches to any shoe by stringing the shoes’ laces through the holes located on the underside of the body of the Shoeshield™. The Alpha Phi Alpha logo which appears on the face of the Shoeshield™ is displayed in an intricate relief pattern with attention to detail.  The Shoeshield™ makes it possible for everyone to show their allegiance to Hip-Hop in a prominent and unique manner.

I have seen the product and I can stand behind this product with the highest recommendation. The quality is like none other and the price is very reasonable. Show your support by assisting this New Orleans based company and purchase a shoeshield for your favorite Alpha brother.

After three years of continuous discussions, a residential center for homeless teenagers and young adults - believed to be the first of its kind in Maryland - is closer than ever to being built on Baltimore's west side.

A dream of committed leaders from private and public agencies, the project is designed to provide a place for young people who have little support from their families to receive adult supervision and help while they pursue an education or job training.

The project is called Restoration Gardens, and it is on track to open in 2009 at 3701 Cottage Ave. in the Park Heights community, just west of Television Hill.

The expected $5 million cost includes the demolition of an old schoolhouse donated by Delta Sigma Theta, the service-oriented sorority of college-educated black women, and the construction of 40 efficiency apartments, according to Julia Pierson, a consultant hired in June to bring the project to the development stage.   more >>

It's not only the season for shopping, but a time for giving of ourselves to others. That's what one Montgomery organization did Saturday. Some stomachs and hearts are a little bit fuller tonight.  At the Omega Psi Phi fraternity on Court Street, something special is going on.

More than one hundred needy children and adults came out for an early Christmas lunch.

"They have chicken, cake, lemonade, dressing, rice, and all of it's good....but especially the maccaroni and cheese," said dinner guest Angel Parrish.

The Lambda Iota Chapter Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. hosted its annual Kwanzaa celebration Wednesday Jeanerette surrounding communities at the King Joseph Recreation Center.

This year was the sorority’s fourth time putting on the ceremony and, according to chapter president Cynthia Greene-Alexander, the program has gotten bigger and better each time it has taken place.

“It is important that we become a unified community and that is what this program seeks to do,” said Alexander. “The seven principles of Kwanzaa are ones that we should be living anyway.”

Guests at the Kwanzaa program enjoyed musical performances, dancing by Chloe Bello and Kaitlyn Marks and poetry selections read by Jackie Davis that were inspirational, humorous and educational.  more  >>
