Students from the Alabama A and M University recently paid a visit to Scottsboro thanks to Coordinator Tiajuana Cotton. Members of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity visited and performed Step Shows for students at the Scottsboro Christian Academy and the local Boys and Girls Club.

The students enjoyed the Step Show, but they also learned some valuable advice. Advisor, Kevin Walker, told students a little about his childhood experience and involvement with the Boys and Girls Club.   more >>

View Article  An evening of pageantry and passage for Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.

They are young African-American women who want to be doctors, lawyers and teachers. They are youth leaders in their churches; their names are found on honor rolls and in Who's Who Among American High School Students. And Sunday night, they were all belles of the ball.

Under the theme "When You Believe," and with much pageantry, the Albany alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority presented six debutantes at the 10th Biennial Cotillion, held at Empire State Plaza Convention Center.  more >>

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Area II’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation department paired up to co-host the Community Festival 2005 on Sunday at Yongsan Garrison.

Organizers said the festival, themed “Unity in the Community,” was a nice way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend.   more >>

A  tour of homes in the Lincoln Terrace and Woodland-Thompson neighborhoods has been set for July by the Beta Sigma Omega chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

Four homes built in the 1920’s and 1930’s will be renovated by interior designers from across the country and will be open during the event to be held on July 16 and July 17.   more >>

African American sororities and fraternities have a long tradition of giving back to their communities. One sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., recently pledged $1 million to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund to support its voting rights work. They hope that their gift will encourage others to participate in philanthropic giving to causes that effect positive change in the African American community.   more >>
