Dr. Gemma D. Beckley, professor of Social Work at Rust College, will lead a group of U.S. scholars and educators through a six-week program to address the impact of China's rapid march to modernization on the well-being of Chinese women.

Dr. Beckley is one of two professors from the Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University who received a prestigious Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad grant to study and conduct research in 2006. The other professor is Dr. Chaya S. Piotrkowski.   more >>

 Graduating from college is generally considered an accomplishment in itself.

And graduating nearly 80 years ago as an African-American woman is certainly an achievement worthy of celebration.

The ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., held the first Carrie Halsell Celebration in the MU Ballroom on Monday night in honor of the first African-American to graduate from what was then as Oregon Agricultural College.  more >>
