Sallie Elliott, publisher of Applause Magazine, was named Woman of the Year by Beta Zeta Zeta, the local chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, on Saturday. The event was the sorority's annual Finer Womanhood Observance, which included a luncheon and award ceremony at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center, Corryville.

Elliott is founder of the Image Makers Award and the Reach for the Stars programs, which honor people who have made outstanding contributions to the community. 

Christina Meadows, a senior at Shroder High School, and Kelly Robinson, a senior at McAuley, received $500 scholarships. Eleanor Bolar, a student at the University of Cincinnati, received a $1,000 scholarship, established to honor Wilma Lacy, Cincinnati's first black female pharmacist and a member of the chapter.   more >>
