Levi Lewis Sr. has announced his candidacy for the Washington-St. Tammany Electric Cooperative's Board of Directors.

A resident of Varnado, Lewis is married to Katherine Nichols Lewis and the couple has three children and six grandchildren.

A 1962 graduate of Wesley Ray High School, he holds a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Southern University and a master's degree in vocational education from Southern.   more >>

Maxine L. Harris Daniels doesn’t just talk about leading a loving, purposeful life, she actually leads one. Her deeds speak for themselves.

As a result, the Central Jersey Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs Inc. presented the Sojourner Truth Award to Harris Daniels on Saturday, April 9.

She was honored at the club’s 41st Annual Founders Day Luncheon at Gibbs Hall at the Fort Monmouth Officers Club in Tinton Falls.  more >>

Hip hop, R&B, funk, stepping, dancing, sketch comedy and Greek calls filled Greaves Concert Hall April 10, during the Northern Kentucky University National Pan-Hallenic Council, Inc.'s third annual Spring Step Off.

The trophy for best sorority went to NKU's Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., whose members wore pajamas while performing amongst a set of props including a giant red teddy bear, stuffed animals, toys and a Nintendo.

The women performed a skit where they acted as grade-school-aged "Future Deltas" at a sleepover party and, at one part, used canes as part of their step routine.    more >>

View Article  Extras wanted for upcoming featured film scene of the 1965 March in Selma

 On May 14, 2005, Cypress Moon Productions will be shooting a scene from its full length feature film When I Find the Ocean in Selma, Alabama. (Ocean stars Lee Majors, Diane Ladd, Bernie Casey, Amy Redford, Richard Tyson and George Lindsey.) This scene is the climax of the film and will be the scene where historical accuracy is the most important.

On May 14, 2005, Cypress Moon Productions will be recreating the successful march in Selma. We need 1200 extras to make this scene possible and historically accurate. As this is a low budget picture, the position of an extra on May 14 is a volunteer one.
