It’s about sound, syncopated sound. It’s about movement, synchronized movement. And it’s about teamwork, spirited teamwork that sends a message of pride in oneself and one’s school.

It is stepping, a longtime collegiate tradition at historically black fraternities and sororities that has found its way to local high schools, where step teams, small and large, have taken on the challenge of memorizing complex choreographed routines.
