View Article  Greeks collaborate to enhance black awareness

In an effort to gain a better presence on campus, increase community service, and raise money, the National Pan Hellenic Council is hosting activities throughout the week to get students involved in greek life.

The NPHC is made up of the historically black fraternities and sororities on campus.

Yesterday they held "penny wars" to raise funds for next year's board and tonight's keynote speaker, Steve Birdine, the international president of Iota Phi Theta fraternity.  more >>

View Article  National Pan-Hellenic Council co-sponsors Black Jeopardy

"Black Jeopardy!," which is co-sponsored by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, will be held Thursday night to challenge students with black history facts and trivia. The event will be open to the public.

Four teams of four students each will have to answer questions concerning black inventors, sports, music, writers and entertainers to earn a prize.

Jackson said that between rounds of Jeopardy!, the audience will be asked hypothetical questions about what the world would be like without the contributions of black people.  more >>

Being a member of a small fraternity has its advantages, according to Marques Moore.

As president of Alpha Phi Alpha, Moore heads up one of only two historically black fraternities at Ball State University.

Together with the campus's three historically black sororities and a Latina-oriented sorority, the six organizations boast a total membership of 41 men and women and make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).

In comparison, the 10 fraternities and 11 sororities belonging to the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) have a combined membership of 1,256 people.   more >>
