Nepotism - favoritism shown or patronage granted to relatives, friends or members of a common bond.

BGN was created to encourage nepotism among the African American community. Almost every other race of people, heavily support and endorse their own in business, community affairs, and education. Their communities prosper because they have learned to grow from within and rely on their self-endowment.

Black Greek Network understands the power of self-reliance. This is why our core membership is composed of historically black Greek organizations. Black Greek organizations have long existed in the African American community. They were established by groups of individuals with the core purpose of uniting and uplifting the African American race.

These organizations include nine black fraternities and sororities but not limited to include other important fellowship organizations such as the Prince Hall Masons, Eastern Star, NAACP, Urban League and numerous others. The origins of many of these organizations date back over 100 years and they continue to stand as strong recognizable institutions today.

BGN recognizes the contributions these organizations have made to the many African American communities across this nation. Today we enjoy many privileges that were rallied for by the members of these groups. And while we have come a long way from our past, there are still accomplishments to be made.

Black Greek Network hopes to promote professional networking among the Black Greeks and other fellowship organizations. We want to unify all Black organizations into one network, therefore acknowledging a more extensive and comprehensive group of people who can socialize and communicate amongst one another.

We will do so by encouraging our people to become more involved in the affairs of our government and support those whom will represent the needs of our community. We are dedicated to helping Black organizations build their memberships by promoting their agendas and increasing the awareness of their great works through more channels of publicity. We will become activist and educate our people, thereby empowering them to become self-reliant.

Our mission is to empower black professionals by providing them the networking tools they need to succeed in their professional lives and surround them with individuals who are ambitious and strive for success in all areas of life. We vision BGN being instrumental in helping individuals develop their careers and strengthen the relationship of brotherhood and sisterhood through the means of the Internet, networking, conferences and seminars. Our core values: honesty, integrity, character, faith and knowledge will aid us in attaining our goals.
